The Sutherland table was named for Harriet, Duchess of Sutherland (1806-1868) Queen Victoria’s Mistress of the Robes. It is a type of gate-leg table characterized by a narrow center that when folded can be stored against a wall without taking up much space. This one has twin carved baluster uprights on cabriole feet connected by stretchers.
