Description

French 19th-20th century Louis XV bombe shaped petit-bureau de dame (secretary). banded with a gilt rim. Six small drawers form the superstructure of the desk. A small gilt decorated (none working) clock is centered above the drawers. The leather desktop is outlined with a gilt twisted ribbon and the desk is fitted with a frieze drawer, attributed to Francois Linke (1855-1946). The pad feet and knees of the cabriole legs are decorated with a gilt leaf design and the front of the frieze drawer is similarly decorated with an extended carved leaf and bottom molding. The desk measures 5 inches high x 5 ¼ inches wide x 2 ¼ inches deep. (124 x 129 x 61mm) and is available in walnut with gilt trim.
