The Davenport desk is named after Captain Davenport who ordered one from Gillow & Co furniture makers in the 18th century. The desk has a brown leather-lined sloping, lift-up top. There are 5 small drawers on the right-hand side of the pedestal support. The top of the desk has a small gallery for inkwells, pens, and pencils. The gallery surround is a serpentine shape with a centrally placed hand-carved medallion in the back. The front legs are fluted and the desk apron is hand carved to match the medallion. The desk measures 3 1/8 inches high x 2 1/4 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches deep and is available in a walnut finish.
