Very similar in style to the popular 1800 the Farthingale chair (or back stool), which was created without arms to accommodate the ladies large skirts, and its small, square back and seat were covered with leather stretched across it, trimmed in nailheads up until this time although simple, loose cushions were still predominant. Once it was produced fully upholstered the back stool came to be known as the upholsters chair. The legs on this chair are simple knob turnings and the spreader bars are straight. The chair measures 4 inches high x 1 3/4 inches wide; 1 3/4 inches deep and is available in a walnut finish with red or green leather upholstered seat and back.
